    We're getting ready for the 2016 festival and are looking for fabulous volunteers to join our team. You can be part of Bank Street coming to life when ten city blocks are shut down and transformed in different themes with surprising, mesmerizing, and fantastic free activities for all ages! Glowfair features two stages on both nights and will feature some of the best artists in Canada.

    We're looking for energetic, enthusiastic, and glowing personalities to volunteer at our luminous event. There will be a variety of positions available and lots of great opportunities for all of those interested in volunteering. Do you have what we're looking for?

    Opportunity Roles

    Festival Greeters

    Festival Greeters will be responsible for being the ambassadors of the festival and will report into the Block Captains. During the festival the greeters will be stationed at either end of the festival welcoming and assisting festival patrons and answering any questions they may have. Shifts will be broken up into 4 hr blocks and will be available day time or evening. Required skills: • Working with the public • Strong interpersonal skills • Walking or standing for periods at a time • Love high energy and social situations

    Information Ambassador

    This role will report into the Block Captains and will be required to potentially conduct some of the following roles: • Answer general questions from the public and volunteers regarding the Festival • Assist lost children (or parents) • Attend to lost and found items • Record comments / concerns / complaints from the public • Act as an ambassador for the festival Required skills: • Strong interpersonal skills • Walking or standing for periods at a time • Love high energy and social situations Shifts will be broken up into 4 hr blocks and will be available day time or evening.

    Traffic Barricade Monitor

    This role will be responsible for directing pedestrian traffic at velecular crossings. Shifts will be broken up into 6hr blocks and will be available day time or evening and will report into the Block Captains. Some of the roles that this position may have to take on are as follows: • Direct pedestrian traffic • Answer questions • Check for the appropriate parking and vehicle access into festival (set up take down) Required skills: • Moving barricades into place and the streets close. • Ensuring appropriate vehicles gain access through the barricades • Provide basic event info when required. • Strong interpersonal skills • Walking or standing for periods at a time • Love high energy and social situations • Act as an ambassador for the festival

    Volunteer Services Headquarters

    This role will work at the hub for the volunteers. Shifts will be broken up into 4 hr blocks and will be available day time or evening and will report to Festival Volunteer Coordinator. Some of the roles that this position may have to take on are as follows: • Distribution of: o t-shirts, badges and ID bracelets, snacks, water • Field general questions • Assist with communication between crew regarding shifts • Record comments / concerns / complaints from volunteers • Manage and maintain the volunteer check in / check out • Liaise with Block Captains Required skills: • Strong interpersonal skills • Walking or standing for periods at a time • Love high energy and social situations

    VIP Check In

    This role will report to the Festival Volunteer Coordinator and work closely with VIP’s. You will be responsible to check in VIP’s, provide them with all needed credentials and provided them with information and directions to the main stage. Shifts will be broken up into 4 hr blocks and will be available day time or evening Required skills: • Strong interpersonal skills • Walking or standing for periods at a time • Love high energy and social situations • Act as an ambassador for the festival

    Runners

    This position will not be decided until the time of the shift. It will be a position that is needed to fill any gaps. Shifts will be available day time or evening and will report to Festival Volunteer Coordinator. Required skills: • Working alongside various crews to ensure the needs are fulfilled • Strong interpersonal skills • Walking or standing for periods at a time • Love high energy and social situations • Act as an ambassador for the festival

    Logistics Volunteer - Set up / Take Down

    Logistics Volunteers will be engaged to undertake the varying, often challenging, and rewarding role of general light labor, errands and basic administration at Glowfair 2016. This volunteer role will be tasked with carrying out random job tasks as require Required skills: • Receive direction and proceed with task completion of random or assigned work requests • Including basic errands • Light manual labour such as assembling kits • Moving boxes • Ability to take direction and complete random or often repetitive work tasks • Complete each with ownership and a positive can do attitude • Walking or standing for periods at a time
